Little Caterpillar (to the tune of “Twinkle Twinkle”)
Little caterpillar sitting all alone,
We need to find you a nice warm home.
Spin your silk and hold on tight
It’s time to tell the day, “Good Night!”
The days are many, the days are long,
Hold on caterpillar, you must be strong.
Oh, wait a minute what do I see?
A pretty butterfly looking at me!
The Fuzzy Little Caterpillar (to the tune of “Itsy Bitsy Spider”)
The fuzzy little caterpillar curled up on a leaf.
Spun her little chrysalis and then fell fast asleep.
While she was sleeping she dreamed that she could fly,
And later when she woke up, she was a little butterfly!
The Butterfly Song (to the tune of “Up On The Housetop”)
First a butterfly lays an egg, now there’s a caterpillar with many legs.
Oh see the caterpillar spin and spin, a little chrysalis to sleep in.
Oh, oh, oh, wait and see, oh, oh, oh, wait and see.
Out of the chrysalis, my oh my.
Out comes a beautiful butterfly!
The Life of a Butterfly (to the tune of “Skip To My Lou”)
I’m a caterpillar, wiggle with me,
I’m a caterpillar, wiggle with me,
I’m a caterpillar, wiggle with me,
What’ll I be my darlin’?
A chrysalis, now sleep like me,
A chrysalis, now sleep like me,
A chrysalis, now sleep like me,
What’ll I be my darlin’?
Butterfly, butterfly, fly with me,
Butterfly, butterfly, fly with me,
Butterfly, butterfly, fly with me,
What’ll I be my darlin’?
Now all together let’s do all three.
A caterpillar, chrysalis, a butterfly, three,
Move your body like this with me.
Now I’m a butterfly darlin’!
Lovely Butterfly (to the tune of “I’m a Little Teapot”)
Lovely butterfly so pretty to me.
Your colors are lovely, perfect symmetry!
You began as larva and we watched you grow.
You spun your chrysalis, oh so slow.
Two long weeks in your chrysalis you’d stay.
We observed you almost every day!
Then out you came pumping up your wings.
You became my friend, you sweet little thing.
Your wings expanded and off you did go.
Lovely butterfly we grew to love you so.
The Moth (To the tune of “Row Row Row Your Boat”)
Moths hatch from an egg then form a cocoon.
They wiggle and jiggle until they come out
they’ll be a moth real soon!
When they take a rest their wings are laid down flat.
They come out at night to fly around.
What do you think of that?
